Sfumando i confini tra fotografia e scultura, il lavoro di Harvey-Regan indaga la relazione tra l’oggetto e la sua rappresentazione. Al centro della sua ricerca, continui slittamenti di significato e di definizione tra “soggetto”, un’entità nel mondo, “immagine” la sua rappresentazione fotografica, e “oggetto fotografico”, la fotografia stessa nella sua materialità. “È un modo di trasportare materia in altra materia, aggiungendo nuovi significati e pensieri nel corso di questo processo” sostiene l’artista. “Penso che fotografare i materiali sia un modo per prendere in considerazione le modalità di creazione di significato, è un processo tattile nel quale mi sento coinvolto. Toccare, spostare, creare è il mio impegno con il mondo e con la mia arte.”

Blurring the boundaries between photography and sculpture, Harvey-Regan’s work investigates the relationship between the object and its representation. At the center of his research are continual changes of meaning and definition between a subject – the thing in the world, an image - its photographic representation, and the photographic object - the material photograph itself. “It’s a means of transposing material into other material, adding new meaning or thoughts in the process”, maintains the artist. “I think photographing materials is a way to consider the means of creating meaning, and it’s a tactile process with which I feel involved. Touching and moving and making are my engagement with the world and my art.”
